Mental Overdrive  is the moniker Norwegian artist and producer Per Martinsen has released most of his electronic music output under, from early industrial techno through legendary Belgian techno label R&S Records back in 1990, through a variation of dancefloor friendly beats on imprints such as Smalltown Supersound, Discfunction, Full Pupp, Ploink, Music Man and his own Love OD Communications. 
He is also known for his collaborations with other artists and composers. In addition he has written a number of film scores and worked with projects exploring other areas of the arts through a multitude of mediums.

The new album Epilogue by Mental Overdrive will be released through Prins Thomas’ label Rett i Fletta on 27 October 2017, followed by a string of live shows throughout 2018.

Northern Disco Lights - The birth of Norwegian Dance Music is the untold story of the bored teenagers in Tromsø, Norway, who shaped the country's famous dance music scene. With interviews featuring people at the centre of the movement, this is the definitive look at the triumph of a homegrown sound.

Mental Overdrive/Per Martinsen is featured in Ben Davis and Pete Jenkinson’s documentary film. In addition to appearing on screen, he also wrote the incidental music featured on the soundtrack.

Mental Overdrive’s live shows are based on hardware equipment only, and varies from harder, beat-based techno shows to more abstract/ambient gigs, all depending on the nature of the event. At the bigger Mental Overdrive shows, live visuals by Tromsø artist Nicolas Horne are part of the setup.

Dance by Liv Hanne Haugen and electronic sounds, performed live by one of Norways leading and internationally acclaimed electronic musicians Per Martinsen, communicate abstractly and open - sometimes violently and loud, other times soft and quiet, with each other, always in presence of the sound of breathing. Visual artist Lawrence Malstaf is manipulating, pulling and re-shaping the bubble in a dance that also makes the audience move. Textfragments by Vibeke Thorp. 
With scientific prose, intestinal dance and cutting edge electronic sounds, the audience is invited inside a large inflated bubble where performers and visitors become one and the invisible air is shared as a physical and tangible medium.
